At a time when American consumers have no choice but to spend their money more carefully, grocery stores like Aldi are poised to shine.

Aldi differs from other grocers in that the majority of its products are lesser-known brands that many shoppers aren’t familiar with. Customers who insist on buying national brands with fancy packaging probably don’t want to shop at Aldi. But those whose goal is to save money can enjoy major discounts by purchasing these so-called “off brands.”

To be clear, though, Aldi’s store brands are by no means poor quality. And Aldi is willing to stand behind its brands for added reassurance.

Costco is often hailed as the store with the most generous return policy in retail. But it can be argued that Aldi’s return policy is even better.

Aldi’s Twice as Nice Guarantee offers both a refund and a replacement for items that are returned due to quality issues.

It’s this winning formula that’s allowing Aldi to expand its footprint. In 2025 alone, the company is opening new stores in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Mississippi
  • Nevada
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Texas

“Aldi continues to see more shoppers come through our doors as they experience our quicker, easier and more affordable shopping experience firsthand,” said CEO Jason Hart. “With our expansion across the country, Aldi is earning the trust of more shoppers in more communities than ever before, bringing us closer to becoming America’s first stop for groceries.”

Aldi adds convenient new perk many customers can’t afford.

Aldi signs deal to solve customer pain point

Though Aldi is working to open hundreds of new stores across the U.S., not everyone has easy access to Aldi and its ultra-low prices. A new partnership is seeking to change that, though.

Aldi recently entered into a partnership with Uber Eats that will make its low-cost groceries available through its platform. Customers will be able to order groceries to be delivered on demand or schedule delivery times in advance.

As part of the new offering, Uber Eats is offering promotional discounts on Aldi orders. Uber One members will also have access to reduced delivery fees and other incentives.

Customers who use the new platform can get Aldi products brought right to their homes, including:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Meats
  • Dairy products
  • Bakery items
  • Pantry staples

In some locations, alcoholic beverages will be available for delivery as well.

Aldi’s new offering won’t help everyone

Aldi is basically known as the discount store of supermarkets. And it’s for this very reason that its latest offering may not go over as well as expected with customers.

It’s true that partnering with Uber Eats allows customers without cars to access Aldi’s products — and the low prices they’re known for. But a lot of people shop at Aldi because they can’t afford traditional supermarkets. And people in that boat may not be able to afford the fees that come with ordering through Uber Eats.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Aldi’s partnership with Uber Eats does support SNAP/EBT payments. In fact, Aldi is the first retailer on Uber Eats to accept SNAP benefits on a national scale.

But the reality is that people who rely on SNAP benefits often find that they’re not enough to meet their food-related needs. So folks in that boat can’t necessarily afford to spring for delivery.

All told, it will be interesting to see how many customers take advantage of Aldi’s new offering.

While this new perk is likely to benefit some shoppers with more room in their budgets, and it may be something to celebrate among those who don’t have cars, a lot of Aldi’s core customer base will probably get left out in the cold.
