YouTube TV remains determined to better position itself among the top U.S. streaming providers.

Its growth has been impressive over the past few years, most likely due to its constant service upgrades. In 2020, the streamer had around 3 million subscribers, and by 2022, it had already reached 5 million users.

In 2025, the number of YouTube TV subscribers surpassed 10 million, Cord Cutters News reported.

Compared to Netflix’s 300 million subscribers, 10 million may seem rather small. It’s important to remember, though, that YouTube TV was launched in 2017 and is available only in the United States, whereas Netflix’s streaming services started 10 years earlier in 2007 and are now available in 190 countries, according to the official Netflix page.

That’s why YouTube TV subscriber growth over the last few years shouldn’t be underestimated.

And the streaming platform just keeps improving its offerings. It recently made two important moves. First, it quietly added two more sports channels just before the 2026 Winter Olympics (Feb. 6, 2026) — NBCSN 2 and NBCSN 3.

Second, it improved the user experience on Android and iOS apps.

YouTube TV updated its Live Guide on mobile apps across both Android and iOS platforms.

YouTube TV rolls out a redesigned Live Guide on its Android and iOS apps

YouTube TV updated its Live Guide on mobile apps both across Android and iOS platforms, redesigning the smartphone experience to resemble the version that first appeared on television in 2023, reported 9to5Google.

The redesigned user interface (UI) moves channel icons to the left, which makes browsing for other content easier and more intuitive. The enhanced Live Guide aims to improve browsing by increasing information density, with program details now shown alongside channel icons, including start/end times and a progress bar.

Previously, the Live tab was just a simple list with the channels at the top of your screen showing a preview.

A constant “Jump to live” button in red at the bottom now allows users to easily return to live content.

A “Sort” menu is also located in the top-left corner, letting users organize channels by their preferences. The ability to long-press on a program tile provides a floating sheet with a live preview, episode description, and options to add shows to the library, set reminders, or navigate directly to the program or channel, reported Android Headlines.

New design for Android and iOS-supported devices “greatly boosts information density and functionality,” according to 9to5Google’s Abner Li.

YouTube TV offers streamlined, more intuitive user experience

The latest enhancements improve the experience for mobile users; however, YouTube TV’s overall app still hasn’t fully implemented the company’s latest design language, writes Cord Cutters News.

For example, the Library and Home tabs are unchanged, and the older icon set is still visible.

Despite these inconsistencies, the redesigned Live Guide has been rolling out for users. If you are still not seeing the update, ensure you have the latest version of YouTube TV for Android or iOS and then force/close the app.

Subscribers, who mostly use the app for on-the-go streaming, should be pleased with the latest enhancements, which are said to provide a more user-friendly interface.

The latest update is just one of many recent moves made by YouTube TV to improve its service, keep its current subscribers happy and attract new users.

YouTube TV rolled out several key updates in recent weeks

I wrote about many of YouTube TV’s recent moves and deals, and I wasn’t expecting another update, unless it was about the previously announced special bundles. In early December, the streamer revealed plans to launch more affordable, genre-specific plans this year, offering customers flexible choices.

This generous deal couldn’t have come at a better time, considering that The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 19.5% jump in the price of subscription and rental of video and video games in December. Purchase, subscription, and video rental increased by 7.6% in the same period, reported The Streamable.

In fact, I previously covered how the majority of popular streaming platforms increased their prices in 2025, including YouTube TV, Netflix, Fubo, Apple TV, Disney+, and HBO Max.

To address the issue of recent price hikes, YouTube TV launched two special deals:

  • A limited-time Verizon partnership deal, offering new subscribers with qualifying Verizon internet or mobile service a price of $62.99/month for six months.
  • A promotional offer for new subscribers, featuring a discounted monthly price of $67.99 for five months (standard price is $82.99), according to prior reporting by TheStreet.

Aside from special deals and channel offerings expansion, YouTube TV frequently upgrades its existing service in response to users’ feedback. In December, the streamer improved its Multiview feature by reducing previous on-screen distractions, making it cleaner and easier to watch.
