Seeing more than 220 million travelers pass through its doors in 2025, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is currently the seventh-busiest airport in the U.S.

It has also, in the last year, become the target of several airlines and credit card companies looking to open new lounges. As it prepares to move its headquarters to Charlotte in 2026, American Airlines opened a new Provisions grab-and-go lounge concept at the airport last August and is preparing to open a new luxury Flagship location at some point in the coming months.

This week, credit card company Capital One has announced that it, too, will open a new 14,000-square-foot Capital One Lounge location at CLT.

Opening date to come, new Capital One Lounge location confirmed for Charlotte

Since spearheading the concept at New York’s JFK Airport back in June, Capital One quickly moved to open more lounge locations open to holders of the $395-per-year Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS) and Washington Dulles (IAD), The Points Guy reported.

A second New York LaGuardia (LGA) is also set to open in 2026.

The company also recently opened a new office in Charlotte in an effort to break its banking services into what it classifies as “one of the nation’s fastest-growing business and banking markets.”

“Together, these investments reflect Capital One’s long-term commitment to the region and its continued focus on creating meaningful experiences for customers both in the air and on the ground,” Capital One said in a statement.

“Tarmac views, locally-inspired menus”: Capital One describes new lounge at CLT

While details on the opening date and what exactly will be featured have not yet been announced, Capital One describes the lounge as having “expansive tarmac views, locally inspired menus, a full-service coffee bar, and dedicated workspaces that create a warm, light-filled environment for travelers.”

The New York location taps into the culture of the city with features such as a grab-and-go counter full of popular bodega sandwiches, a bar menu full of drinks inspired by neighborhoods like the West Village and the Lower East Side, and a cheesemonger counter where guests with time to spare between flights can put together a curated board of cheeses from local Greenwich Village cheese shop Murray’s Cheese.

While Capital One has so far not provided details on what kind of Charlotte-based touches the new lounge location will have, it will need to stand out, as this airport is currently home to multiple lounges by airlines and other companies.

These include two Admirals Club and the Provisions locations from American Airlines, a Delta Sky Club, a Centurion Lounge, a Minute Suites, and a Gameway lounge, where anyone can enter to play on popular platforms Xbox and Playstation 4 by the hour.

The Capital One lounge will be located on the mezzanine floor of CLT’s Concourse A that recently went through the first phase of a $110 million expansion. The Delta Sky Club has also only opened in 2023, as multiple airlines began eying Charlotte for their route network expansions.
