With the autumn season now well underway, most airlines are already thinking ahead to the summer routes that worked and which ones they will want to bring back or launch next year.

United Airlines recently announced a string of new flights to smaller European cities such as Split in Croatia and Bari in Italy. Delta Air Lines, in turn, has just confirmed routes to Portugal’s Porto from JFK and France’s Nice and Spain’s Madrid from Logan International Airport in Boston.

Final “big three” carrier American Airlines has become the latest to reveal a spate of new flights for the summer of 2025, with a new route from JFK in New York to Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) in Wyoming that will run daily from June 18 to October 4 on an Airbus A319.

While Jackson Hole is known primarily as a ski destination, American is launching the summer routes for those looking to explore nearby national parks like Grand Teton and Yellowstone.

“Our fifth connection to one of America’s favorite outdoor destinations”: American Airlines

“American already flies to Jackson Hole, WY, from four hubs across the country, making JFK our fifth connection to one of America’s favorite outdoor destinations,” the airline said in a statement in reference to existing flights from cities like Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Other routes announced by the carrier include New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Jacksonville International (JAC), running on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from February until September. Additional seasonal routes will run from the smaller New York airport to Savannah, Georgia, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The latter is an expansion of a flight that in 2025 ran only on Saturdays, while all three routes will run on smaller Embraer aircraft for the select market of NYC sun-seekers shuttling between the city and warmer destinations.

Gunnison, Colorado, is a mountain town popular with tourists.

American Airlines will extend another popular ski flight for the summer season

“Next year, American will offer service for the perfect wrap-up to the week with weekend service from LGA to top destinations in the Southeast,” American said in a statement on these routes.

“From strolling the charming streets of Savannah after a day out at a dolphin cruise, or driving down to St. Augustine from Jacksonville, or visiting amusement parks in Myrtle Beach, there’s more than one way to make the best of the weekend.”

A fifth American flight, one between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) in Colorado, initially slated to end by June 2026, has now also been extended into the summer season until October.

The small mountain town in central Colorado sits on the Blue Mesa Reservoir and in recent years has become increasingly sought out by adventurous tourists for fishing and mountain biking.

“American knows summer is a time for traveling to new destinations, making memories with friends families, and revisiting fond favorites, and that’s why we continue to add new routes,” American Director of Domestic Network Planning Jordan Pack said in a statement.

“[…] From the glaciers of Alaska to the thermal baths of Budapest, and now to the beauty of the Mountain West and the beaches of the Southeast, there’s plenty to discover no matter how you travel with American.”
