When you take a vacation, lots of things can go wrong that create major problems.

Anyone who travels, for example, has waited in a long rental car line even when they had a reservation. Some of us have even gotten to the front of that line and realized that the car we had reserved wasn’t actually there.

In the age of Uber and Lyft that no longer means you’re stranded, but a transportation problem can put your travel plans into disarray. Yes, you can arrange rides to wherever you are going, but people plan ahead because they know what they need.

Those problems can be even worse when you’re planning for a group. If you book a bus, a van, or other group transportation, and it does not show up, or it cancels late, you then have a serious and expensive problem.

Luxury Transportation Group provides luxury car, van, and motor coach (bus) rentals in the tourist destinations of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. Its offerings include airport, theme park, nightclub, and cruise port transportation.

Those are services people book well before a trip and those are now in doubt as Luxury Transportation Group has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Meet Luxury Transportation Group

Luxury Transportation Group did not start as a Florida company dedicated (mostly) to the tourism business. It actually has roots in New York City, but now operates entirely in Florida. ==

“Luxury Transportation Group was established in 2008 as a premier New York transportation management and full service chauffeur company. The reputation for operational excellence provided an opportunity to grow and showcase our quality corporate and VIP destination services in multiple metropolitan markets,” the company shared on its website.

In addition to the above-mentioned tourism-based services, it also provides wedding transportation, restaurant limo service, and meets other group transportation needs. Luxury Transportation Group also offers well-equipped vehicles for passenger peace of mind.

“Our vehicles are equipped with the latest in mobile technology including GPS tracking software, allowing us to locate anytime. “We offer real time flight tracking, email confirmation, easy scheduling, and payment via digital technology helping us deliver superior customer service at a moments notice. Dispatching is sent electronically to each drivers mobile hand held device, increasing the reliability of communication while improving responsiveness,” it added.

The company’s bankruptcy plan has not been filed, but the fact that it is a “debtor-in-possession” case suggest that a deal has been made with its creditors to keep the company operating.

“A debtor in possession (DIP) is an individual or corporation that has filed for bankruptcyprotection under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code and holds property or assets which can be used to satisfy creditor claims. The debtor in possession may continue to do business using those assets to maintain the asset productivity, but the debtor is doing so on behalf of creditors,” according to Cornell Law School.

Luxury Transportation Group uses high-end busses, luxury vehicles, and well-appointed vans.

Luxury Transportation Group appears to be operating

For the company, the success or failure of this process hinges on keeping its customers and that means communicating with them.

“So, communications after filings are also critical. Every positive outcome — no matter how small — should be widely reported to customers (and to employees and creditors). This includes obtaining financing, termination of burdensome leases and contracts, obtaining a new customer, etc.,” Kenneth A. Rosen Mary E. Seymour Philip J. Gross wrote in TruckingDive.

The were commenting on truck fleets in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but the same logic applies to a transportation company.

“A well-planned Chapter 11 enables a debtor to publicize that the bankruptcy case is a tool for reorganization, that the pieces necessary for success are in place, and that the proceedings will move quickly and successfully. In difficult times, this gives customers, salespeople and employees the comfort that they need,” they added.

Customers comment on Luxury Transportation Group

Luxury Transportation Groups has only a few reviews on Yelp, but most are positive.

“I used this company last year for transportation from my hotel to the cruise port and from the cruise port to the airport. What a great experience! Danny was our driver and was professional and kind. They were on time, the vehicle was well maintained and clean and Danny went over and above to make sure my family was as comfortable as possible, and safe as well,” wrote Miles T.

Nahgi Y. was similarly upbeat.

“I booked LTG for an event we hosted in Miami, they were very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. The event was booked last year before the hurricane so we had to cancel and rebook it for 2018. The process was completely effortless,” he shared.

The company has 26 reviews on TripAdvisor and has a 4.7 out of 5 stars.

This is a developing story and will be updated when the company submits more Chapter 11 bankruptcy documents.
